According to a survey of more than 1,000 homeowners published in REALTOR magazine, a majority of respondents say they want more color in their homes. If you want to increase the appeal of your new housing project take a look at some interesting information.
All Rooms Need a Splash of Color
In recent surveys two-thirds of respondents said that color is needed in every room. When asked to prioritize what rooms needed color those who answered offered this list in order:
- Your Living room
- The Family room
- Bedroom
- Bathroom
Every Color of the Rainbow
A majority of respondents said they wanted a colorful palette with a variety of colors. While every room didn’t need to be the same color, they needed to be from the same palette. There was no firm agreement on specific colors but answers did seem to fall into two major categories.
Many who answered the survey said they preferred warm neutrals for the interior of a home while others said that cool neutrals were better. Some of the discrepancy appears to be based on age. Younger respondents tended to prefer darker colors while older home owners said they liked lighter colors.
Which Palette for Your Project
So which colors should you use in your next housing project? That depends on your market. If you are creating homes in an area where younger buyers are prevalent you may want to lean toward warm neutrals and rich colors. If, however, your home buyers are older using cool neutrals and light colors may improve sales.
There are many different aspects to consider when improving your return on investment for a new housing project.
